50 Cent avoids criminal charges after throwing a microphone off stage: Report

According to TMZ report, 50 Cent has avoided criminal charges after throwing a microphone off stage, and allegedly hitting a concertgoer.

Fans recorded footage at the Crypto.com Arena show in August that showed the rapper throwing two defective microphones from the stage to the crew, which was near the crowd. The video did not show where the microphones landed, but photos surfaced showing the alleged victim, POWER 106 radio host Bryhana Monegain.

After the incident, Monegain obtained multiple head and face lacerations and filed a police report. The case was then presented as a felony to the L.A. County District Attorney. However, the D.A.’s office then sent the case to the L.A. City Attorney’s office, reports TMZ.

Since then, no criminal charges have been filed against 50 Cent, the City Attorney’s office told the outlet.

Representatives for both the rapper and the L.A. the City Attorney’s office did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for further information on Friday.

Despite the case’s current standing, it will remain open for one year from the date of the August 30 incident. There is still a chance that 50 Cent could face criminal charges if there were to be any additional incidents between the rapper and Bryhana.

During the show, the “In da Club” artist was reportedly handed one mic that wasn’t making any sound as his guest, rapper YG, was performing. He threw the mic to the left of the stage.

The rapper (real name Curtis James Jackson III) was then handed another microphone that proved to be faulty. He then tossed the second mic off stage with what seemed to be a greater force and further back from the stage’s edge than the first mic.

Once 50 Cent was given a working mic, he continued the performance and joined YG, 33, center stage.

After the incident, a source said, “This is an unfortunate isolated incident where someone was in a restricted area they should not have been.”

At the time of the incident, “Many Men” rapper’s attorney Scott Leemon denied it was deliberate.

Leemon said in a statement, “Let’s be very clear, as I told LAPD this afternoon, my client Curtis would never intentionally strike anyone with a microphone. Anyone saying something different doesn’t have all the facts and is misinformed.”
