The first trailer for the new thriller In the Fire on Wednesday, showing Amber Heard, as an American psychiatrist who travels to Colombia to check out a disturbed child who townies have come to think is possessed by the Devil.
In a statement, Heard said that the movie is a meditation on the almost supernatural powers of love told through a strong-willed and self-reliant woman at the turn of the 20th century.
The actress continued that she feels honored to be part of this labor of love and to be the lead in director Conor Allyn’s vision. I feel fortunate to be surrounded by such an amazing cast and they’re as dedicated and supernatural as the characters they play, she added.
On June 24, Heard attended the 69th Taormina Film Festival in Italy to back the film’s world premiere.
The latest film is “a lovely film about the almost supernatural effect and force of love”, heard told at the festival.
Heard said at the moment, “It is regarding the limits that love can cross and its creation, and really about the overwhelming power that love has, I don’t want to sound cheesy about it, but it’s a film about love.”
Heard also occurs in the forthcoming sequel Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which opens in December and debuted its first trailer last week.
Though it was shot early, In the Fire is the heard’s first film to debut since her controversial defamation trial with Johnny Depp, her ex-husband. The jury sided in Depp’s favor the previous year. Months later, they got a settlement and she paid him $1 million.
In the Fire director Allyn told at the Taormina Film Festival that Heard “has an extremely optimistic future ahead.”
In the Fire is in theaters and on digital Oct. 13.
