Despite the viral assault video, Diddy won’t face prosecution; Here’s why

Sean “Diddy” Combs will not face prosecution after brutally assaulting Cassie Ventura in a hotel as caught in a video, surfaced over social media on Friday, May 17.

Daily Mail reported on Saturday, May 18, that the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office has released a statement in the wake of the video from March 5, 2016, circulated over social media, noting they can’t press charges given too much time has passed since the crime occurred.

“We are aware of the video that has been circulating online allegedly depicting Sean Combs assaulting a young woman in Los Angeles,” they began in the statement shared on Instagram.

“We find the images extremely disturbing and difficult to watch. If the conduct depicted occurred in 2016, unfortunately, we would be unable to charge as the conduct would have occurred beyond the timeline where a crime of assault can be prosecuted,” they mentioned as the reason for not proceeding with the criminal charges.

They further noted in the statement that, as of today, no law enforcement has presented any case related to this incident against Diddy, 54.

However, they encouraged “anyone who has been a victim or witness to a crime to report it to law enforcement or reach out to our office.”

It is pertinent to note that in California, the time limit to charge someone for simple assault is one year, and for aggravated assault, it’s three years.

Given the aforementioned timeline, no charges can be pressed against the music mogul for the brutal assault he did on Ventura, as depicted in the video obtained by CNN on Friday, May 17.
