Emma Watson Reveals She Was Given Wine Daily as a Child by Her Father

Actor Emma Watson has spoken out about her familiarity with alcohol at a young age, revealing that her father would often give her wine to drink alongside water during lunch as a child. In an interview with Financial Times’ How To Spend It, the 33-year-old said she was surprised by other kids’ excitement about alcohol.

“I was quite surprised when other kids got really excited about the idea of getting their hands on alcohol,” she said. “My dad would give me wine and water for lunch since I was a kid. So I was pretty confused as a teenager and everyone thought alcohol was a forbidden fruit.”

Watson’s comments highlight the different cultural attitudes towards alcohol and underage drinking across the world. While some countries have a more relaxed approach to alcohol consumption, others have stricter regulations and penalties for underage drinking.

The actor’s admission also comes after she announced a break from social media in December 2022. Watson has previously spoken out about her experience of growing up in the public eye, including the pressures of being a child star and the impact of media scrutiny on her mental health.

In recent years, Watson has been focusing on her work as a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, campaigning for gender equality and women’s rights around the world. She has also been involved in a number of environmental and sustainability initiatives, including the launch of the Good On You ethical fashion app.

Overall, Watson’s comments serve as a reminder of the importance of understanding different cultural attitudes towards alcohol and the impact of childhood experiences on adult behavior. It’s a valuable lesson for parents and young people alike to consider the potential long-term effects of early exposure to alcohol.
