Ice Spice, almost a week after releasing her first track of the year, the aptly named “Think U the Sh*t (Fart),” announced that her upcoming debut album will be titled Y2K and dropping this year.

During a Today interview with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager on Tuesday, the Bronx-born rapper revealed that her new record is named after her birthday, Jan. 1, 2020. Ice Spice previously hinted at the title of her new project in November with an Instagram photo of a back tattoo alongside the cryptic message “Y2K! ?/?/24.”

“It’s almost finished. I’m really excited,” Ice Spice beamed during Tuesday’s segment. “I have a crazy collaboration that just got locked in two days ago,” she teased when asked about the new music, but refrained from divulging exactly who that feature might be.

Last year, Ice Spice rolled out “Pretty Girl” with Rema following her EP Like..? The 15-minute surprise EP featured tracks like “Deli,” “In Ha Mood,” and “Princess Diana” with Nicki Minaj. She also joined Minaj for “Barbie World” from the Barbie soundtrack, collaborated with Taylor Swift on a remix of “Karma,” and teamed up with PinkPantheress on “Boy’s a Liar Pt. 2.” Last year, Ice Spice also took home Best New Artist at the 2023 MTV VMA Awards.

The announcement of her upcoming album arrives two weeks after Duval “D.Chamberz” Chamberlain and Kenley “Kass the Producer” Carmenate accused Ice Spice of copyright infringement over “In Ha Mood.”

Carmenate alleged the drill superstar and her producer Riot “copied” the title, hook, chorus, phrasing, and tempo of “In That Mood” without permission or proper credit. Ice Spice has yet to respond to the suit.
