Jeff Bezos, the Amazon.com Inc. founder, will pay $68 million for an estate in Indian Creek, a border island in the gigantic Miami area, according to an anonymous person with familiarity with the concern.
The 1.1 hectares (2.8-acre), built in 1965, 3-bedroom property, that was once owned by MTM Star International, a firm with ties to Panama.
Public records show the deal occur in June, but the identity of the purchaser was unrevealed. Before that, the previous recorded deal was in 1982 for $1.4 million.
Bezos’ spokesperson didn’t respond yet to requests for comment.
The world’s third-richest person is looking for other buys in the area, the person with familiarity with the concern said. The Indian Creek is known as “Billionaire Bunker” and has been property to the likes of Tom Brady, Carl Icahn, Jared Kushner, and Ivanka Trump.
In recent years, Bezos, 59, has purchased numerous homes, including in Washington, D.C., a 9-acre Beverly Hills mansion he purchased for $165 million in 2020.
Bezos purchased properties in Manhattan and Seattle as well as a 300,000-acre ranch in Texas, where the takeoff area of Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket is based.
