Jennifer Lopez recently opened up about her boyfriend Ben Affleck’s impressive command of the Spanish language. During an interview with Access Hollywood, the singer praised Affleck’s fluency in Spanish and revealed that he spent a significant part of his childhood in Mexico.
“Yeah, really great Spanish,” Lopez said about Affleck’s language skills. “He spent time in Mexico when he was a kid, and so, he loves the culture, and he loves the people, and he loves speaking Spanish.”
Lopez, who also speaks Spanish, admitted to feeling self-conscious about her own language abilities. “I get very self-conscious because I didn’t grow up in Puerto Rico, you know what I mean?” she said. “I speak Spanish, and I know Spanish. I know Spanish well, but I still get self-conscious – not him.”
This isn’t the first time that Affleck’s Spanish skills have been praised. During promotions for his film “Air,” the actor surprised fans by fluently speaking Spanish. And on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” in 2020, Affleck revealed that his 17-year-old daughter Violet’s fluency in Spanish is better than his own.
“She’s always been a very good student, and she’s been interested in Spanish, and so I would often help her,” Affleck said. “Now, all of a sudden, she’s gotten into the grade where she’s, like, in the harder Spanish classes, and she’s getting better.”
It seems that Affleck’s love of the Spanish language runs deep, and Lopez couldn’t be more impressed with his skills. The couple, who recently rekindled their romance, seem to be going strong and continue to support each other in all aspects of their lives.
