Justin Baldoni has claimed that Ryan Reynolds “aggressively berated” him over comments made to Blake Lively on the set of their ‘It Ends with Us’ movie.
The allegation, detailed in Baldoni’s current libel lawsuit against The New York Times, reported on sexual harassment claims made by Blake against Justin.
According to the lawsuit, reviewed by The Independent, Baldoni, who directed and acted alongside Lively, in the film, questioned the Gossip Girl star how much she weighed before filming a scene in which he had to lift her.
The document says that Baldoni, who had back problems, asked the question to “ensure he could safely perform the lift without injury.”
Reynolds, 48, allegedly misinterpreted the remarks, accusing Baldoni of “fat-shaming” his wife during a confrontation at the couple’s New York City penthouse.
“The confrontation that followed was so aggressive that Baldoni felt compelled to offer repeated apologies,” the lawsuit states. “Baldoni, in an effort to avoid further confrontation with Lively and Reynolds and rebuild rapport with his co-star, continued to bend to her will.”
It is also remarked that Blake “refused to perform the lift scene” despite having “rehearsed with a stunt double” previously.
Baldoni, along with nine other plaintiffs, has filed a $250 million lawsuit against NYT, accusing the newspaper of libel and false-light invasion of privacy over its Dec 21 article titled: “‘We Can Bury Anyone’: Inside a Hollywood Smear Machine.”
The article detailed Lively’s legal complaint against Baldoni, in which she accused him of sexual harassment and orchestrating a “smear campaign” to “destroy” her status after she went public with allegations of misconduct on the set of their 2024 film.
Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, has called Lively’s claims “false, outrageous and intentionally salacious.”
