Kendrick Lamar Feud with Drake Takes Legal Turn

Kendrick Lamar’s diss track, Not Like Us, which refers to Drake as a “certified pedophile” has taken the rapper to court. Drake’s legal defense is planning for a long trial against Universal Music Group according to the latest update filed on Wednesday, April 9th.

The Canadian rapper’s legal team stated that “settlement discussions have not taken place” in documents obtained by People Magazine.

According to the documents, the trial is estimated to last for at least three weeks, in New York. This comes after Lamar’s Grammy-winning song, Not Like Us, garnered a lot of attention after he released it in May 2024.

The Luther hitmaker also performed the track in front of a crowd of 127.7 million people in Super Bowl 2025 in February.

While the word “pedophile” was censored in the performance, Lamar smiled at the camera as he said, “Say, Drake, I hear you like ‘em young.”

This comes after Drake’s legal team hit back at UMG’s response that Lamar’s lyrics were only his opinion, saying, “UMG completely ignores the Complaint’s allegations that millions of people, all over the world, did understand [the song] as a factual assertion that [Drake] is a pedophile.”

However, UMG claimed that the God’s Plan “lost a rap battle that he provoked” and “sued his own record label in a misguided attempt to salve his wounds.”
