Former working royal Meghan Markle is set to receive yet another award for her advocacy work. The Duchess of Sussex will be presented with the Women’s Women of Vision Award this week for her “global advocacy to empower and advocate on behalf of women and girls.”
The Ms. Foundation for Women will be presenting the award to Meghan on Tuesday, with journalist and social activist Gloria Steinem presenting the prize.
The organization’s webpage includes a profile of the Duchess, paying tribute to her as a “feminist, champion of human rights and gender equity, and global role model.”
Since stepping down as a working royal in 2020, Meghan has received a series of special awards for her advocacy work. In January of this year, she was awarded the Top Entertainment Podcast Host prize at the Gracie Awards for her work on Archewell Audio.
Meghan and her husband Prince Harry also received the Ripple of Hope award from the Robert F Kennedy Human Rights Organization for their “unwavering commitment to social change and worked to protect and advance equity, justice, and human rights.”
The couple was also jointly recognized for their advocacy work with the 2022 NAACP President’s Award for their work on causes related to social justice and equity. In 2021, they received the Change Champions Award from the British-based charity Population Matters for their decision to only have two children and their efforts to promote sustainability.
Meghan and Harry’s advocacy work has focused on a range of issues, including gender equity, mental health, and environmental sustainability. The couple’s decision to step down as working royals and move to the United States was driven in part by their desire to lead a more financially independent life and to pursue their advocacy work outside the constraints of royal duties.
As Meghan continues to receive recognition for her advocacy efforts, her work is sure to inspire and empower women and girls around the world.
