Meghan Markle and Prince Harry celebrated their son Archie’s fourth birthday in California on May 6th, which was also the same date as King Charles III’s coronation. While the royal couple reportedly invited several high-profile people to attend the event, one A-list celebrity apparently snubbed the invitation.
According to LA-based author Lisa Gaché, Katy Perry and her fiancé Orlando Bloom would have been among the invited guests to Archie’s birthday party. However, Perry reportedly declined the invitation and instead attended the historic ceremony at Westminster Abbey on Saturday.
Gaché told the Telegraph, “In Montecito, celebrities are royalty…If there’s any celebrity with a child the same age, it’s safe to assume they’ll be invited.” She added that the likes of Oprah, Ellen DeGeneres, and Serena Williams also reside in the same area as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
It’s not known why Perry decided to attend the coronation instead of Archie’s birthday party, but it’s likely that her commitment to the royal event took priority. The singer is set to perform at Sunday’s Coronation concert at Windsor, which features other big names such as Lionel Richie and Ed Sheeran.
Despite the reported snub, Meghan and Harry are said to have had a lovely celebration for their son’s birthday. It’s unclear who among the other invited guests attended the party, but with the likes of Oprah and Serena Williams on the guest list, it’s safe to say that Archie had a memorable celebration.
