The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, is reportedly planning a “low-key” celebration for her son Prince Archie’s fourth birthday on May 6. According to sources, the party will be held at the family’s home in Montecito, California, and will be attended by close family and friends.
The celebration falls on the same day as King Charles’s Coronation, which Prince Harry is expected to attend in the UK. Meghan has confirmed that she will stay in California to look after Archie and her daughter Princess Lillibet.
Despite being separated from her husband on this special day, Meghan is said to be keen on making it a memorable occasion for her son. A source close to the Duchess said, “Meghan is planning something really low-key. Since Harry won’t be able to attend, she just wants to do something intimate with family and a few very close friends.”
The biographer of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Omid Scobie, revealed that Archie’s birthday “played a factor” in Meghan’s decision to stay in California. He added that Prince Harry’s appearance at the coronation will be brief, as he will only attend the ceremony at Westminster Abbey.
Despite the separation, the family remains close-knit, with Prince Harry revealing in a recent interview his hopes for Archie and Lillibet’s futures. He also mentioned that Archie is a sweet boy who loves his sister and asks for her when she’s not around.
Although the party may be low-key, it’s sure to be filled with love and joy as the family celebrates Prince Archie’s fourth birthday.
