Olivia Rodrigo is one of the most nominated singers at the Grammys Awards 2024, as the young singer-songwriter is currently in the running for six trophies. That ties her with fellow superstars like Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, and Billie Eilish for the fifth-most nods this time around.
The Grammy chart-topper is not guaranteed any Grammys, as she seemingly was during her first trip to the biggest award show in music.
This time around, she faces some tough competition–but if she can come out on top in one specific category, she’ll make history and match with two of the biggest artists in the world right now.
Olivia Rodrigo is currently a nominee for Best Pop Solo Performance for her single “Vampire.” The song could become her second win in the category, as she collected this honor for the first time just two years ago with her debut single “Drivers License.”
If Rodrigo is named the champion once again, she will become only the third artist in history to win the Best Pop Solo Performance Grammy twice. The field was introduced back in 2012 after the Recording Academy did away with the gender-specific fields in pop, and since then, only two acts have managed to come out on top more than once.
Adele currently owns the record for the most wins in the Best Pop Solo Performance category. The British vocalist has earned this trophy four times, for her singles “Someone Like You” (which was the first winner in the newly-named field), a live rendition of “Set Fire to the Rain,” in 2017 for “Hello,” and last year for “Easy on Me.”
The only other artist to snag this Grammy at least twice is Ed Sheeran. While not known as a powerhouse singer like Adele, he has produced some of the biggest pop hits of the past decade or so, and the Recording Academy has rewarded him for that success. Sheeran has won for his smashes “Thinking Out Loud” and “Shape of You.”
Rodrigo could win for “Vampire,” but first she’ll need to beat four other beloved women and their big hits. For the Best Pop Solo Performance Grammy, the actress and singer will need to best Cyrus’s “Flowers,” Swift’s “Anti-Hero,” Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” and Doja Cat’s “Paint the Town Red.”
The winners of the 2024 Grammys will be announced during a live telecast on CBS on February 4, 2024.
