Shania Twain had nothing but praise for Taylor Swift when she was asked how she felt about the popstar wearing her face on a T-shirt during an outing in New York City at the beginning of October.
“It’s really cool. I think that was sweet of her,” the country icon shared during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, on Tuesday. Twain added that she thinks Swift is a “doll” and a “great role model for girls.”
The “Forever and for Always” star continued, “I’m totally in. Like, I feel like I’m her aunt or something. We’re in synch in a lot of ways, and I really have a lot of respect and compassion for her.”
Shania Twain also took the opportunity to complement Taylor Swift’s work ethic.
“The weight of any young artist in her position is enormous, and she gets through it seemingly so effortlessly, but we all know that it’s not,” she said.
The “Shake It Off” singer was spotted sporting a Shania Twain “Any Man of Mine” T-shirt from Free People alongside friend Keleigh Sperry in front of Electric Lady Studios in New York City on Tuesday Oct. 3. She paired the Twain merchandise with bike shorts, white New Balance sneakers, a baseball cap and a small Louis Vuitton bag.
Twain is currently performing across North America as part of her Queen of Me World Tour. In May 2024, she will begin a residency at Las Vegas’s Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood. She previously revealed to PEOPLE that she’s looking forward to the opportunity to showcase her passion for fashion in the shows.
“I’m going to be playing around with the fashion more in the Come on Over residency because… I’ve really discovered the joy of creating my styling myself,” she said in August. “I’ve always collaborated, but this is a whole other level. I’m going to be doing more of that at the Come on Over residency.”
