The legendary rapper Snoop Dogg has made an unexpected revelation about former US President Donald Trump. In an interview with The Sunday Times of London, the rapper expressed admiration for someone he believes has consistently been beneficial to him.
According to Snoop Dogg, this individual, whom he regards highly, has not wronged him in any way and has, in fact, only done positive things for him. Specifically, he highlighted the pardon granted to Michael Harris, a co-founder of Snoop Dogg’s initial record label, Death Row Records.
Harris had been incarcerated for drug trafficking and attempted murder, but Trump pardoned him in January 2021.
“So I have nothing but love and respect for Donald Trump,” Snoop Dogg said.
The relationship between Trump and Snoop Dogg has been notably less amicable in the past. Snoop Dogg openly criticized Trump after he assumed the presidency in 2016.
Snoop Dogg even announced his intention to relocate to Canada as a response to Trump, although he ultimately did not follow through with the plan. In a music video released four months later for the song “Lavender,” Snoop depicted a clown named Ronald Klump, a character resembling Donald Trump.
In November 2017, Snoop Dogg continued to express his dissent through the cover art of his EP titled “Make America Crip Again,” featuring an image of a deceased figure labeled “Trump.”
However, there were signs of a potential improvement in their relationship in January 2021, following Trump’s pardon of Michael Harris, a move that seemed to signal a thaw in their strained relations.
“I love what they did,” Snoop Dogg told the New York Post. “That’s great work for the president and his team on the way out.”
