YouTube has suspended Russell Brand from earning any money through his channel for ‘violating our Creator Responsibility policy’. Brand makes about five videos a week for his 6 million subscribers, making him an estimated more than $ 1 million a year.
The Sunday Times and Channel 4’s Dispatches reported on Saturday allegations of abusive and predatory conduct including rape, sexual assault, and emotional misuse said to have been committed by the presenter between 2006 and 2013.
Brand denies the allegations and urges all his connections have been consensual. In a statement on Monday, the Met Police said they had received an allegation of sexual assault in 2003.
The disgrace has already noticed Channel 4 pulled all programs related to the Brand on its website, including episodes of The Great British Bake Off and Big Brother’s Big Mouth in which the comedian was featured.
Netflix has now been suggested to withdraw his comedy special, Re:Birth, from its catalog.
While no longer being capable of earning money from YouTube will have an impact on the Brand, it will do a bit to affect his overall net worth – which has been estimated to be as increased as more than $ 40 million.
Usually, Brand posts a new show on the video platform Rumble on weekdays at 5 p.m., but there was no new episode on Monday with his most current arrival a brief clip on Friday when he rejected the allegations against him which was published the following day.
The comedian has received support online from Elon Musk and his fans were out in strength at a gig in Wembley on Saturday to offer their support.
The probe by Channel 4, The Times, and Sunday Times started four years ago. Around the same time, he stepped back from much of his TV and movie work.
His net worth has been estimated between $ 15 million and $ 40 million – with YouTube specialists declaring he earns $ 61,000 a month from YouTube plus another $ 100k a month from merchandise and paid subscriptions to his podcast.
