Renowned singer Celine Dion is facing a challenging journey as she grapples with stiff-person syndrome, a rare autoimmune disorder. The distressing details were recently shared by Celine’s sister, Claudette, who revealed that the iconic My Heart Will Go On artist is experiencing difficulties in controlling her muscles due to the condition.
In an emotional interview with OK! magazine, Claudette expressed her heartbreak at witnessing Celine’s struggle, emphasizing the singer’s lifelong commitment and hard work. “Our mother always told her, ‘You’re going to do it well, you’re going to do it properly. It’s true that in both our dreams and hers, the goal is to return to the stage. In what capacity? I don’t know,” shared Claudette.
Celine Dion took to Instagram in 2022 to announce the heartbreaking news after the diagnosis prompted her to cancel shows on her European tour. The 55-year-old singer revealed, “While we’re still learning about this rare condition, we now know this is what’s been causing all of the spasms that I’ve been having.” She added, “Unfortunately, these spasms affect every aspect of my daily life, sometimes not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I’m used to.”
As Celine navigates the challenges of stiff-person syndrome, her sister’s candid revelation sheds light on the impact it has on the artist’s personal and professional life, leaving fans and well-wishers expressing support for the beloved singer during this difficult time.
