Chrissy Teigen has spoken candidly about her personal experience with Ozempic, revealing that she used the weight loss medication following her devastating pregnancy loss five years ago. The model, author, and TV personality said she chose to share her story to promote transparency and help others feel less alone in their struggles.
In a heartfelt interview with PEOPLE, Teigen, 39, explained that her openness about using the drug was never about glamorizing weight loss — but about honesty and emotional healing.
“I knew it would resonate,” she said. “Since the beginning of social media, I’ve always wanted people to know that things weren’t as fluffy and beautiful as they may seem.”

The Cravings cookbook author emphasized that showing the “real side” of life has always been important to her, especially after dealing with public grief and body image challenges.
“I knew it would really resonate and make a lot of people feel a lot better about their families, themselves, and their own bodies,” she added.
Encouraging Her Kids to Embrace Honesty Over Perfection
Teigen, who shares four children — Luna, Miles, Esti, and Wren — with husband John Legend, said she wants her kids to grow up embracing authenticity, not perfection.
“I would want my daughter, Luna, or my son, if Miles wants to venture into hair plug territory or something, to know that it’s not about pretending to be perfect,” she shared. “It’s about being open and honest about what it feels like to do things that make you feel better.”
She further explained that striving for flawlessness often leads to emptiness rather than fulfillment.
“It’s not about striving for perfect because it doesn’t make anybody else feel emotionally happy at the end of the day,” she noted. “It’ll never truly fulfill you.”
“Everyone Has the Right to Feel Healthy and Safe”
Teigen ended the conversation by acknowledging that personal choices — whether about appearance, health, or self-confidence — are deeply individual.
“People are going to make their own decisions about their bodies and what will make them feel healthy and safe and proud of themselves,” she said. “Everybody has a right to do those things.”
Her honest reflection struck a chord with fans who have long admired her transparency about motherhood, loss, and body image. By speaking openly about her experience with Ozempic, Chrissy continues to champion self-acceptance and emotional honesty in a world obsessed with perfection.
