Cynthia Erivo has opened up about the real reason behind shaving her head, explaining how it reflects her individuality and personal style. In a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar, the Wicked and Harriet star shared her thoughts on beauty, self-expression, and navigating fame.
“This is what I want to look like. I love a heel, I love a nail, I love a jaw, I love a bald head, I love a good outfit,” said the 38-year-old actress. “It is legitimately a way of just expressing parts of myself.”
Cynthia emphasized that her choices are for herself, not for anyone else:
“If it’s the only thing I put into this world, that everyone’s individual beauty is worth seeing and experiencing, and you don’t have to change it for anyone else other than yourself, then I’m happy.”
She also highlighted the importance of self-determination in beauty choices, adding,
“If you want to change and you want to get a new nose, you want to get new lips, fine. If that’s good for you, then that’s good for you—as long as it’s for you.”
In the interview, Cynthia opened up about handling fame later in life, expressing gratitude toward Jada Pinkett Smith, whom she regards as a “dear sister,” for guidance and support.
“I’ve been checking in on her a lot. A lot of times, it’s difficult if you haven’t been through something like that, being popped into stardom in a certain manner,” she explained.
Through her bold choices and candid reflections, Cynthia Erivo continues to champion self-expression, individuality, and authenticity—both in her style and her life.
