Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs is facing yet another twist in his ongoing legal battle as his legal team works to prevent a high-profile psychologist from taking the stand.
Dr. Dawn Hughes, a clinical psychologist known for her testimony in major cases—most notably the 2022 defamation trial between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp—has been named as a potential expert witness in the sexual assault allegations brought against Combs. However, Diddy’s attorneys are pushing back, arguing that her involvement is both unnecessary and unfounded.

According to AllHipHop, the rapper’s legal team recently filed a 25-page motion objecting to Dr. Hughes’ testimony. They argue that she lacks direct knowledge of the case and has not personally interviewed any of the alleged victims.
“Hughes has apparently not interviewed the alleged victims at all, much less engaged in the sort of psychological diagnostics that her profession demands,” the motion reads.
The legal team further claims that Dr. Hughes’ assessments are too speculative to be admitted as expert testimony. They believe her conclusions are based more on assumptions than scientific evidence.

Alex Spiro, Diddy’s attorney, criticized her potential testimony, accusing the government of trying to use it to compensate for weak witness credibility.
“The government wants an expert so that it can wave her testimony in summation like a magic wand to cure the glaring defects in its fact witnesses’ credibility,” Spiro argued.
Diddy, best known for hits like I’ll Be Missing You, continues to deny the allegations against him. As the court proceedings unfold, his legal team remains committed to challenging both the claims and the evidence being presented.
This latest development adds another layer of complexity to a case that’s already drawing significant public attention.
