In a recent and unsettling turn of events, renowned DJ Diplo finds himself under investigation for the alleged distribution of revenge porn. The accusations stem from a police report filed by a woman named Shelly Auguste, who claims that Diplo shared her intimate photographs without her consent, according to reports from Pitchfork via People Magazine.
Auguste clarified that the explicit images in question were either taken by Diplo himself or provided to him by her. This revelation comes as part of an ongoing legal battle that traces its origins back to 2020, with Diplo consistently denying all allegations against him.
The initial report was filed in August, and by November, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) submitted the case to the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office for review. Auguste, not stopping at the police report, has taken legal action against Diplo, whose real name is Thomas Wesley Pentz.
Shelly Auguste has brought forth a litany of charges, including sexual battery, gender violence, intentional intrusion into private affairs, battery, assault, defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, fraud, and violations of the Ralph Civil Rights Act and Tom Ban Civil Rights Act.
Auguste believes that Diplo’s purported distribution of the explicit photographs is retaliatory, stemming from his displeasure with her recent legal actions against him. However, Diplo’s attorney counters this narrative, asserting that Auguste has been orchestrating a smear campaign against the DJ for more than three years, and the recent claim is merely a continuation of this alleged pattern.
As the investigation unfolds, a civil trial is reportedly scheduled for April 2024. The legal battle not only sheds light on the serious nature of the accusations but also highlights the complexities surrounding the alleged actions of the prominent DJ. Diplo, a widely recognized figure in the music industry, now faces the challenge of navigating this legal storm and defending his name against the grave accusations before him.
