In a recent revelation, Disney CEO Bob Iger shared the thrilling news that the Disney studio is currently in the early stages of creating a fourth installment of the immensely popular Frozen franchise. Speaking on Good Morning America, Iger disclosed, “Frozen 3 is in the works and there might be a Frozen 4.”
During the interview, Iger provided insights into the ongoing creative process, stating, “But I don’t have much to say about those movies right now. [Director] Jenn Lee, who created the original ‘Frozen’ and ‘Frozen 2,’ is hard at work with her team at Disney animation on not one but actually two stories.”
The announcement was made from Disney’s theme park in Hong Kong, where Iger was present for the opening ceremony of the World of Frozen. This new theme park promises an immersive experience, allowing visitors to not only meet beloved characters like Olaf, Anna, and Elsa but also dine at themed restaurants and stroll through streets that recreate the enchanting world of Arendelle.
“For years at our Disney Parks, we’ve been creating these large immersive worlds. Essentially, they are the physical embodiment of some of the greatest stories that we’ve told,” noted Iger. Emphasizing the significance of ‘Frozen’ as one of Disney’s most valuable franchises, he expressed, “I think it’s just right for building the place that ‘Frozen’ takes place in. It’s just a fantastic land that enables people to get immersed in the story of ‘Frozen’ and interact with all the great characters from the films.”
In addition to the movie developments, it was confirmed that the talented songwriting duo behind the enchanting tunes of ‘Frozen,’ Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, will be crafting new melodies for the two upcoming movies. Anderson-Lopez shared this exciting news on social media, adding to the anticipation surrounding the future of the beloved animated franchise. As fans eagerly await the next chapter of ‘Frozen,’ the expansion of the World of Frozen theme park promises to bring the magic of Arendelle to life in a tangible and enchanting way.
