Ed Sheeran Reflects on Special Friendship with Taylor Swift

Even with a packed schedule filled with global tours, chart-topping hits, and the occasional courtroom drama, Ed Sheeran has made it clear that maintaining meaningful friendships is important. One friendship that has stood the test of time is with pop superstar Taylor Swift.

In a recent appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Sheeran opened up about his long-lasting bond with Swift, which dates back to 2012 when they first connected both musically and personally. When asked about his favorite memory with Swift, the Shape of You singer couldn’t help but smile as he looked back on a special time during Swift’s Red Tour.

Reflecting on their shared time together, Sheeran recalled, “I lived in Nashville, and she lived in Nashville, and we used to fly to and from gigs together. I literally spent almost every single day with her for about six months.” This period of close collaboration and constant connection became a defining moment in their friendship, as they spent a lot of time together on the road and formed a deeper bond.

While their lives have evolved since those days, Sheeran fondly remembered the time they spent creating music and memories. He mentioned that although their schedules now make it more difficult to see each other frequently, they still manage to carve out quality time when they do meet. “I probably see her about four times a year,” Sheeran said, “and when we catch up, we have a proper sit-down for about six hours. I think that’s a really nice way to do it.”

The heartwarming memories came to the forefront while Sheeran was going through old voice notes and texts during his 2023 copyright trial for his hit Thinking Out Loud, where he was ultimately found not liable. Instead of focusing on the legal drama, the process led Sheeran to reminisce about the good times, including the sweet collaboration with Swift on their song Everything Has Changed.

Their connection remains strong, and even though life has become busier for both stars, Sheeran’s reflections show just how much he cherishes his friendship with Swift—a relationship that has lasted over a decade and continues to thrive despite their hectic schedules.
