After years of anticipation, delays, and rewrites, Euphoria season 3 has finally reached critics—but not all responses have been glowing.
Critics Voice Disappointment
Some reviewers expressed that the once-bold teen drama now feels less impactful as its characters enter their 20s.

The Hollywood Reporter stated:
“Attention-demanding things that played as extreme and terrifying when they were happening to teenagers simply become ‘things’ when the protagonists are in their 20s. Heightened ideas that played as gloriously melodramatic and precariously edgy expressed through high-schoolers barely count as ‘ideas’ when run through a 20-something prism.”
IndieWire gave the season a ‘C-‘ rating but praised Zendaya’s portrayal of Rue Bennett:
“While Rue’s position is fixed, season after season, her struggle to break free makes her compelling.”
Meanwhile, the BBC review echoed similar sentiments:
“‘Euphoria’ has become a series with very little to say, none of it very audacious or compelling. It is a strained attempt to make the closed circle of friends it follows, now in their early 20s, somehow the same, only different.”
Zendaya’s Performance Still Shines
Despite critiques of the storyline and writing, Zendaya continues to receive acclaim for her portrayal of Rue, highlighting her nuanced performance as a standout element amid a more subdued narrative.
Season 3 Release
Euphoria season 3 is set to debut on HBO Max on April 12, 2026, giving fans a chance to judge for themselves whether the show maintains its previous edge and cultural impact.
