Gal Gadot, celebrated for her roles in various films including “Wonder Woman,” is preparing to bring her multifaceted talents to the forefront in the highly anticipated live-action remake of “Snow White.”
In an insightful interview with GQ, the Israeli actress, who has been cast as the formidable Evil Queen in Disney’s fresh retelling of the classic tale, disclosed that she invested considerable effort into refining her singing skills before undergoing the audition process.
Gadot revealed, “They needed to ensure that I could sing because this is a musical.” She emphasized that this marked her return to auditioning for a film role after a significant hiatus.
Taking her preparation seriously, she shared, “For an entire month, I was dedicated to perfecting the song. Then, I auditioned and we recorded the song. I got the part, and it was a very exciting moment.”
The forthcoming role presents a unique challenge for Gadot. She acknowledged the musical and theatrical aspects of the film, recognizing the distinctiveness of this venture from her previous endeavors.
Interestingly, Gadot shared an endearing anecdote involving her daughter, who made a fitting recommendation for her role in the movie.
The film, featuring Rachel Zegler in the lead role, is scheduled for release next year. However, it has already sparked debates and controversies. One notable aspect of contention is the reimagining of the dwarf characters as “magical creatures.” Additionally, the choice of casting a Latina actress as Snow White has ignited discussions about representation and diversity in cinema.
Recently, Zegler faced criticism after expressing her opinions about the original Disney film, characterizing it as outdated and regressive in its portrayal of women.
As anticipation builds for the release of “Snow White,” it is evident that the movie’s cast and themes are generating fervent discussions about the evolution of storytelling and the dynamics of representation in the modern cinematic landscape.
