In a recent revelation, actor Glen Powell shared a heart-stopping incident that occurred during the filming of a steamy scene in the upcoming romantic comedy “Anyone But You.” Powell, who stars alongside Sydney Sweeney in the film, disclosed in an interview with Variety that he “almost died” while shooting a nude scene that unfolds on a cliff.
The scene required Powell, 35, to hastily strip, with co-star Sydney Sweeney, 26, tasked with pulling a spider out of his shorts. Powell emphasized the perilous nature of the scenario, stating, “Taking your clothes off on the side of a cliff in a hurry is not safe, either.”
While recounting the incident, Powell humorously remarked, “Nobody talks about that safety issue on set, where I almost died falling off a cliff taking my pants off too fast. But it’s a really fun scene, so it was all worth it.”
Despite knowing that the scene wouldn’t showcase him in a “cool” light, Powell chose to “embrace” the absurdity of the moment, explaining, “You just have to grip it and rip it on a scene like that.”
Adding another layer of complexity to the scene, Sweeney revealed that she was bitten by the spider. “There’s the spider itself, which actually bit me, and that was a whole thing,” said the “Euphoria” actress. “And then we have the part of Glen bending over, and me checking to see if there are more spiders… I’m very acquainted with Glen now.”
“Anyone But You” promises audiences a unique blend of romance and comedic mishaps, set to hit theaters on December 22, 2023. The unexpected challenges faced during filming offer a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes adventures that contribute to the creation of memorable cinematic moments.
