Halle Berry has recently voiced her frustration with Canadian rap sensation Drake over his alleged use of her picture to promote his new single, “Slime You Out.”
In response to this promotional tactic, the Academy Award-winning actress shared a cryptic message on social media that indirectly addressed Drake’s actions and raised questions about his recent promotional choices. Notably, Drake had been slimed at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards in 2012, a fact that seemed to influence Berry’s response.
Berry’s message read, “Sometimes you have to be the bigger guy … even if you’re a woman!” This statement suggests her disappointment with Drake’s use of her image without permission.
When a fan inquired about her thoughts on the Grammy winner’s cover art, Berry amplified her dissatisfaction by stating, “Didn’t get my permission. That’s not cool. I thought better of him! Hence my post today. When people you admire disappoint you, you have to be the bigger person and move on.”
The disputed track, “Slime You Out,” is part of Drake’s upcoming album, “For All the Dogs,” which has now had its release date pushed to October 6, delayed from the initially scheduled September 22 release. Explaining his decision on Instagram, Drake said, “OK, my dilemma I am faced with is either cancel shows to finish the album or I complete the mission and drop the album before the last show. I owe you all these memories we are building, and anywhere we have missed to date, we will be spinning back for sure.”
As fans speculate about the fallout from this unexpected conflict, it remains to be seen how Drake will respond to Halle Berry’s criticism regarding the unauthorized use of her image for promotional purposes.
