Excitement around the highly anticipated Harry Potter TV reboot continues to grow as stars Dominic McLaughlin and Nick Frost were recently spotted filming in London. McLaughlin, who has taken on the titular role of Harry Potter, and Frost, cast as the beloved half-giant Rubeus Hagrid, were seen shooting one of the saga’s most iconic sequences.
Filming Brings Back Magical Nostalgia
Warner Bros. first confirmed plans for the Harry Potter series in 2023, promising fans a faithful adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s bestselling novels. In July, the studio announced that principal photography had begun at Leavesden Studios in Hertfordshire—the same location where the original films were shot.

Now, less than a month later, McLaughlin has been spotted in costume filming the Diagon Alley scene, where Harry buys his first school supplies. The sequence is a pivotal moment in the story, marking Harry’s first steps into the wizarding world.
Although Nick Frost has been cast as Hagrid, reports suggest he was not present during this particular shoot, with a stand-in stepping into the role for the day.
Faithful to the Books
According to the show’s creators, the series will follow the novels more closely than the original films, dedicating an entire season to each book. This means fans can expect to see moments that were previously shortened or cut entirely. In this case, Hagrid will reportedly deliver Harry back to the Dursleys after their trip to Diagon Alley—just as written in the book—before instructing them to ensure Harry boards the Hogwarts Express.
Nick Frost on Playing Hagrid
In an earlier interview with Collider, Frost opened up about his approach to playing the fan-favorite character:
“I always read Hagrid as he’s like a lovely, lost, violent, funny, warm child,” he said. “The beauty of being able to do a book a season means I get to explore that a lot more, and I can’t wait.”
Release Date Set for 2027
The Harry Potter reboot series is currently in production and is expected to premiere in 2027. With a promise of deeper storytelling and new layers of character development, longtime fans and new viewers alike are eagerly awaiting this magical return to Hogwarts.
