Harry Styles, the global music sensation and burgeoning Hollywood star, has revealed why he turned down a significant acting role alongside Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke.
The multi-talented artist, known for his performances in films such as Dunkirk, Eternals, My Policeman, and Don’t Worry Darling, was offered the lead role in Paul Feig’s romantic comedy Last Christmas. Despite the opportunity to share the screen with Clarke, Styles declined the role, believing he was too young for the part.
Speaking about the decision during promotions for his 2022 film, Styles shared that the character didn’t feel like the right fit at the time. Director Paul Feig later confirmed this sentiment, stating, “I love Harry. We wanted him to play the part that Henry Golding ultimately took, but Harry turned it down because he felt he was too young for the role. I’ve tried to get him in a few movies.”
The role of Tom Webster, which went to Henry Golding, saw the actor starring opposite Clarke in a heartwarming story set during the holiday season.
This isn’t the first time Styles has passed on a major film opportunity. He was also offered a role in the 2024 horror remake Nosferatu, initially intended for Nicholas Hoult. However, scheduling conflicts forced Styles to decline the project.
Despite these missed opportunities, Styles’ Hollywood career continues to flourish, balancing his chart-topping music with critically acclaimed performances on the big screen. Fans eagerly await his next move, as he remains a prominent figure in both the entertainment and film industries.
