Taylor Swift can finally breathe a sigh of relief following the identification of human remains discovered near her Rhode Island residence — a story that drew significant media attention in recent weeks.
According to a press release issued on June 13 by the South Kingstown Police Department, the remains have been confirmed to belong to 31-year-old Eric Wein, a Massachusetts resident who was reported missing on April 18.
Missing Man’s Identity Confirmed
Wein’s vehicle was previously found abandoned in South Kingstown, Rhode Island, on April 10, raising questions that lingered for over a month. On May 14, local authorities discovered partial remains — including what appeared to be a human leg bone — less than a mile from Swift’s coastal property, which fans often refer to as her Cruel Summer beach retreat.
The Westerly Police Department initially reported the finding and immediately transferred the remains to the Rhode Island Office of the State Medical Examiners for thorough analysis.
No Foul Play Suspected
Following weeks of forensic examination, police officials formally concluded the investigation, stating that no foul playwas involved in Wein’s death.
“After working closely with the Mansfield Police Department and the Rhode Island Office of the State Medical Examiners, the South Kingstown Police Department has formally concluded its investigation,” the statement read. “We extend our deepest condolences to Mr. Wein’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
Taylor Swift Unaffected by Investigation
Although the discovery of the remains occurred near Swift’s Watch Hill mansion, authorities made no connection between the pop superstar and the case. Swift was not in the area at the time and had no involvement in the investigation.
