In a recent appearance on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs with host Lauren Laverne, actor Jamie Dornan took the opportunity to speak glowingly about his wife, Amelia Warner, sharing how thoughts of her serve as a source of strength and inspiration. The star of Fifty Shades of Grey also revealed a special song that holds sentimental value, expressing the deep connection it has with his wife and their three daughters.
During the show, when questioned about the one track he would rush to save from the waves among the eight shared, Jamie promptly responded, “Forever” by the Beach Boys. The actor went on to pay a touching tribute to Amelia, emphasizing that the song symbolizes the love and support she provides for their family, making it an essential element in challenging situations.
Reflecting on his early days as Christian Grey in Fifty Shades, Jamie shared a compelling story about the challenges they faced during filming. At the time, Amelia was heavily pregnant, prompting Jamie’s late father, Professor Jim Dornan, to accompany them on a private jet to Vancouver in case of a potential emergency.
Expressing admiration for his wife’s resilience, Jamie remarked, “I’m amazed that Millie didn’t just say no. Fair play to her, what an unbelievable woman to hop on a private jet because we couldn’t fly commercially with my dad on it because if she went into labor in the sky, there needed to be an obstetrician.”
The Belfast actor revealed the humorous side of the journey, sharing that despite complications from Covid, his father ordered a gin and tonic while on the private jet. “It was unbelievable. Dulcie was born three days later, and we started filming,” added Jamie, shedding light on the extraordinary circumstances surrounding the filming of Fifty Shades amidst personal and health challenges.
Jamie Dornan’s Desert Island Discs appearance not only showcased his musical preferences but also provided a glimpse into the deep appreciation and respect he holds for his wife, Amelia Warner, and the resilience displayed by their family during pivotal moments in their lives.
