Jennie from BLACKPINK Opts Out of Grammy Nominations for 2024

BLACKPINK’s Jennie, a shining star in the world of K-pop, will not be contending for Grammy nominations in 2024, despite having work that was not only eligible but also widely recognized for its excellence.

For those who may not be familiar with the details, Jennie was featured in the song “One of the Girls,” which was part of HBO’s “The Idol.” This track received both critical acclaim and a level of commercial success. However, to the surprise of many, it won’t be among the Grammy nominations.

According to Forbes, “One of the Girls” had the potential to compete in several categories, with Best R&B Performance being a particularly fitting option for the K-pop sensation.

The reason behind this omission appears to be tied to The Weeknd’s stance. The Weeknd, who also contributed to “The Idol,” made the decision not to submit any songs from the project for Grammy consideration. This choice can be traced back to his past dissatisfaction with the Recording Academy, notably after his song “Blinding Lights” was overlooked.

In response, The Weeknd distanced himself from the awards but did ultimately receive a Grammy trophy for his involvement in a Kanye West track.

In conclusion, despite the promise and eligibility of Jennie’s work in “One of the Girls” from “The Idol,” it appears that the song will not be part of the Grammy nominations for the upcoming 2024 ceremony.
