Jennifer Lawrence has revealed there’s one style choice she still can’t pull off without being reminded of her iconic role as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games.
The 35-year-old actress told Harper’s Bazaar that she avoids wearing her hair in a braid because it instantly brings fans back to her Hunger Games days. “Although I can’t put my hair in a braid without being like, ‘Oh, you want somebody to bring up the movie?’” Lawrence said.
Reflecting on how her characters influence her style, Lawrence explained that she often picks up aspects of her roles while filming. Her new character, Grace, a young mother struggling with postpartum psychosis in the upcoming film Die My Love, has also impacted her wardrobe choices. “Grace was very influential. I noticed when I started to dress like her,” she said.

Lawrence admitted that her style tends to evolve with each new role. While Katniss didn’t dramatically change her personal fashion, other roles have influenced her choices more subtly. Outside of acting, she draws fashion inspiration from New York City streets, enjoying new silhouettes and the revival of early-2000s layered trends.
The actress also opened up about her experience as a parent. She is mom to Cy, 3, and a second son born earlier this year with her husband, Cooke Maroney. Lawrence said becoming a mother has informed her portrayal of Grace, noting the emotional authenticity it brought to the role. She bonded with co-star Robert Pattinson, as both are parents of young children.
“Like any new parent knows, that’s the only thing you want to do is just, like, look at pictures and show people pictures and videos of [your] kids,” Lawrence shared.
While her style continues to evolve, one thing remains constant: if Jennifer Lawrence wears a braid, her iconic Katniss Everdeen role is sure to come up.
