J.Lo opens up about healing and self-reflection at an exclusive Los Angeles listening party.
Jennifer Lopez is back in the spotlight with her deeply personal new single, “Wreckage of You,” which she debuted at a private listening event in Los Angeles on Wednesday, July 2. The emotional track is already making waves online, offering fans a raw glimpse into her healing journey after a difficult chapter in her life.
The 55-year-old global icon shared the new music with just 30 lucky fans in attendance, describing how the idea for the song came to her during a moment of quiet reflection.
“She said the idea came to her when she was lying in bed after a long day,” revealed fan Edgardo Luis Rivera to US Weekly, adding that the ballad was written and recorded just two weeks prior.
A Song Born From Pain and Growth
According to attendees, Lopez was open about the personal struggles that inspired “Wreckage of You.” She spoke candidly about 2024 being a particularly difficult year — a time when she cancelled her tour, focused inward, and began to heal.
“She mentioned how last year was a very difficult time for her both personally and professionally… Fast-forward to one year later, and she feels better and stronger than ever,” said Rivera.
Jennifer Lopez on Finding Strength After Heartbreak
The release of “Wreckage of You” follows Lopez’s split from Ben Affleck, her husband of two years. The power couple, famously dubbed “Bennifer,” ended their marriage in January 2025, marking a major emotional turning point for the singer-actress.

In a recent interview with PEOPLE’s Nikki Glaser, Lopez reflected on that painful transition.
“That’s not what I thought it was going to turn out like,” Lopez admitted. “And then I thought, ‘No, this is exactly where I needed to be, to lead me to where I want to go.’ That doesn’t mean it didn’t almost take me out for good. It almost did.”
