Judah Smith, known for being Justin Bieber’s close friend and spiritual advisor, is finally addressing the rising online chatter labeling his church, Churchome, as a “cult.”
The speculation has intensified recently, especially amid ongoing public curiosity about Smith’s long-standing connection with the pop star. Taking to Instagram, Smith shared a lighthearted video recounting a surprising encounter with paparazzi.
“I stepped out of my car and, for the first time, was surrounded by paparazzi,” he said. “Then this kind woman turns on her camera and goes, ‘So is this a cult or not?’ I genuinely wasn’t prepared for that question!”
Smith, who leads the Seattle-based Churchome community, responded with humor to the accusation. “If we’re a cult, we must be the worst cult of all time,” he joked. “We only meet once a month now—I stopped the weekly gatherings. We clearly have some work to do if that’s the goal!”

While Smith brushed off the claims with laughter, the timing coincides with fresh speculation about Justin and Hailey Bieber’s marriage. Despite maintaining a united front on social media, insiders have suggested the couple may be navigating some relationship tension.
As both the church and the Bieber marriage face growing scrutiny, Judah Smith’s candid reaction offers a glimpse into how he handles controversy—with a touch of humor and authenticity.
