Kanye West is facing the threat of a default judgment in a lawsuit after his legal team failed to provide proper representation in court. This latest development follows a lawsuit filed by Isaiah Meadows, a former employee of West’s Donda Academy, adding to the artist’s long list of ongoing legal issues.
During a recent hearing, Judge Christopher Lui expressed concerns over the lack of legal counsel for West, who has been struggling to secure an attorney. Kanye’s current lawyer, Manoj Shah, who is not experienced in civil litigation, requested more time to find proper legal representation. “We are trying in vain to retain counsel,” Shah told the court. “We are interviewing several firms, but for one reason or another, it has failed to work out. Our goal is to have counsel and participate in the defense.”
Shah’s comments highlight West’s ongoing legal difficulties, which include firing multiple lawyers and refusing to pay them their fees. Judge Lui warned that if a lawyer is not found soon, a default judgment could be issued. “This can’t continue forever,” the judge remarked, emphasizing that any new attorney must be brought on board quickly.
On the opposing side, Meadows’ attorney, Ron Zambrano, commented on the unusual nature of the case, stating that this was the first time they had seen an attorney appear to represent West’s interests. “It’s an odd situation,” Zambrano said. “There’s a long history of people not getting paid by Kanye West, which is part of the problem. But we’re going to move forward. He’s going to have to pay attention to this case somehow.”
As Kanye West continues to navigate his legal challenges, the pressure is mounting for him to secure proper representation and address the lawsuit that threatens to escalate further if no action is taken.
