Kanye West Shares Text Messages with Elon Musk, Challenges Bipolar Diagnosis

Kanye West, the renowned Yeezy fashion designer, and rap icon, has chosen to address the ongoing discourse about his mental health. To do so, he reached out to his friend Ian Connor and shared a series of text messages exchanged with none other than Tesla CEO Elon Musk, aiming to clarify his mental health status and challenge the prevailing perceptions about his diagnosis.

These revealing text messages were made public on Instagram, and within them, West not only disclosed that he has been diagnosed with autism but also contested the widely held belief that he has bipolar disorder.

The exchange began with West expressing his eagerness to engage in a conversation with Musk, stating, “When are we going to speak? You owe me nothing.” He emphasized that if such a conversation were to occur, it should mark a transformation in the nature of their relationship. West boldly stated, “I’m not bipolar; I have signs of autism from my [2002] car accident.” This reference takes us back to a pivotal moment in West’s life – the infamous car crash that served as the inspiration for his hit song “Through the Wire,” which he recorded with his jaw wired shut.

It is worth noting that West had previously disclosed a bipolar diagnosis in 2018. However, in a surprising turn, he took to Twitter in 2022 to claim that he had been “mentally misdiagnosed.” In addition to discussing his diagnosis, the text messages touched on deeply personal matters, including family issues, with West mentioning his former spouse Kim Kardashian and expressing concerns about their children.

West’s communication didn’t stop at discussing his diagnosis. He also addressed Musk’s characterization of him as a “friend” on Twitter, suggesting that this reference was made to bolster Musk’s struggling platform. It is worth mentioning that West had been suspended from the platform due to making offensive comments, and in response, he enlisted the help of Ian Connor to make these messages public.

The motives behind West’s return to social media remain shrouded in mystery, especially as he has been in the spotlight for his public displays of affection with his wife, Bianca Censori, in various European locations. This latest development adds another layer to the complex narrative surrounding the multifaceted artist and his efforts to engage with the public on matters both personal and of public significance. As discussions about his mental health continue, his openness and transparency mark a significant step in the ongoing conversation.
