Royal expert claims Meghan misunderstood her role in the monarchy and faced cultural clashes behind palace walls.
The British royal family continues to face public scrutiny as new insights into Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s marriage make headlines. According to royal expert and commentator Esther Krakue, King Charles III may have held critical views regarding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s relationship—especially concerning Meghan’s integration into the royal fold.

Despite stepping back from royal duties in 2020, Meghan Markle’s position within the monarchy still attracts public debate. Krakue suggests that the Duchess may not have been fully aware of the expectations that came with royal life.
“King Charles Thought Harry Was Whipped,” Claims Royal Expert
Speaking to The Sun, Krakue alleged that King Charles once remarked about Harry being “whipped,” reflecting concern over the prince’s deep attachment to Meghan.
“We know that King Charles said something about him being whipped. We keep hearing things consistently coming out from courtiers and people that are close to the Royal Family,” Krakue said.
She added that Queen Elizabeth II’s opinion of Meghan evolved over time, paralleling shifting public perception.
“I think where things went wrong was clearly the cultural clash,” she explained. “In some ways, Meghan thought she was marrying a billionaire, but she was marrying a millionaire—with a reduced status.”
Misunderstanding the Royal Role?
Krakue further claimed that Meghan may not have fully understood—or even been interested in—the duties and restrictions that come with royal life.
“She hadn’t earned enough brownie points to choose how she wanted to do things or curate her image the way she preferred.”
This perspective echoes earlier sentiments that the former Suits actress found life within the royal institution limiting and hierarchical, in contrast to her Hollywood upbringing.
Queen Elizabeth Allegedly ‘Dismayed’ by Wedding Plans
The royal commentator also revealed that Prince Harry’s wedding arrangements in 2018 caused tension within the monarchy. She claimed that the late Queen Elizabeth II was left “dismayed” by some of the decisions leading up to the royal nuptials.
“He almost blew his relationship with his late grandmother,” Krakue noted.
While Harry and Meghan’s departure from royal duties was positioned as a personal and professional decision, these new claims reignite public interest in the deeper emotional and cultural complexities at play within the royal household.
