Late Queen ‘Deeply Hurt’ by Prince Harry’s Behavior During 2018 Wedding

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding on May 19, 2018, at St George’s Chapel in Windsor was celebrated globally as a grand royal occasion. However, sources close to the royal family reveal that the atmosphere behind the scenes was not as smooth as the public perceived.

Royal biographer Ingrid Seward shares that the late Queen Elizabeth II felt troubled by Prince Harry’s behavior both before and after the wedding day. According to Lady Elizabeth Anson, a close family friend and cousin to the Queen, Harry’s attitude during this time caused significant concern within the royal household.

One notable source of tension involved Meghan’s choice of the Queen Mary Diamond Bandeau tiara, which was exclusively reserved for the wedding day itself. This meant Meghan was unable to wear the tiara during her hair trial, a decision that reportedly upset Harry. Reports say he raised his voice at the Queen’s dresser, Angela Kelly, a move that the Queen reportedly disapproved of.

Another point of disagreement was Meghan’s decision to wear a white wedding dress and veil despite it being her second marriage. Traditionally, white bridal gowns are worn by first-time brides, which raised eyebrows in royal circles.

Despite these issues, Harry and the Queen had shared a close bond in the past. They were seen together at various events, including a public appearance promoting the Invictus Games in 2016. However, their relationship reportedly began to weaken after Harry and Meghan announced their intention to step back from royal duties in 2020.

Lady Elizabeth Anson remarked on this development, saying, “The Queen has always valued duty above all else, so turning away from that responsibility has been deeply painful for her.”

These insights provide a glimpse into the complex dynamics and pressures faced by Harry and Meghan as they adjusted to royal life, highlighting the challenges between tradition and personal choice.
