Liam Cunningham Unveils Text Message to Kit Harington for Game of Thrones Spinoff Role

Liam Cunningham, acclaimed for his portrayal of the honorable Davos Seaworth in Game of Thrones, has recently unveiled a lighthearted attempt to reprise his character in the highly anticipated spinoff series of the legendary show. In an exclusive interview with Den of Geek, Cunningham shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse into his efforts, disclosing, “I did send a text saying, ‘Better Call Davos,'” playfully referring to his character’s distinct personality.

Despite his good-natured outreach, the response he awaited never arrived. Liam remained pragmatic in his approach, expressing, “I haven’t heard anything back.” However, he did not shy away from his interest in revisiting the intricate world of Westeros, humorously adding, “You probably know more than I do. I wish them the best to whoever’s involved in it, and if the check is big enough, I might even show up again!”

The anticipation for a Game of Thrones spinoff reached a crescendo in June 2022 when The Hollywood Reporter unveiled plans for a sequel series centered around the enigmatic Jon Snow, a character brought to life by Kit Harington. A mere week later, the creator of the intricate universe, George RR Martin, confirmed the sequel series through a blog post, teasing its tentative title as “Snow.”

While the prospect of Davos Seaworth’s return to the realm remains uncertain, Liam Cunningham is steadfast in his belief that the enduring allure of the “GoT phenomenon” will persist. Drawing a parallel with timeless classics, he mused, “I think GoT is one of those things that after each decade, people are going to discover as if the previous decade had forgotten it. I think it’s going to be rediscovered. I think it’s a bit like Dracula.”

Recognizing the unanticipated cultural influence of the initial Game of Thrones series, Liam underscored the enigmatic essence of such phenomena, pointing out, “The original GoT became a phenomenon. Foreseeing its evolution into a cultural juggernaut was beyond anyone’s foresight, and engineering such phenomena is an incredibly intricate process. You construct the foundation, and whether the masses embrace it or not is uncertain. In this instance, they unequivocally rallied.”

Optimistic and unwavering, Liam’s sentiments echo the sentiments of devoted fans who remain captivated by the allure of Westeros. “It’s a world that people are fascinated with, and long may it continue,” he concluded, projecting a hopeful gaze toward the ever-evolving legacy of this iconic fantasy realm.
