The New Orleans native revealed in a recent Rolling Stone cover story that he felt “deeply hurt” after the NFL selected Kendrick Lamar to headline the event in his hometown.

Despite his disappointment, Wayne made it clear he holds no personal grudge against Kendrick Lamar. Still, he admitted the show felt lacking in something essential.
“They coulda had some music. But instead they got rappin’… They f***ed up,” he said.
Wayne added that he didn’t even watch Lamar’s performance. Instead, he opted to play pool with Lil Twist and step out for a smoke break.
“There was nothing that made me want to go inside and see what was going on,” he confessed.

“I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a letdown,” he explained in an earlier Instagram video. “I thought there was nothing better than that spot… so it hurt.”
