Director Matt Reeves has shared exciting updates about The Batman 2, including lead star Robert Pattinson’s reactionto the highly anticipated sequel’s script. Speaking on the red carpet at the 2025 Emmy Awards, Reeves told Variety that Pattinson is “really proud” of the screenplay he developed with co-writer Mattson Tomlin.
Robert Pattinson’s First Impressions
“We’ve started to share it with Robert,” Reeves explained. “Rob was super excited. I feel really excited about the idea that we can reach farther and do even more than we did in the first one.”
The Cloverfield director added that he is looking forward to reuniting with the original cast and crew, describing the upcoming production as “fun” and “ambitious.”
A Script Under Tight Security
Reeves also revealed that security was a top priority when sending the script to Pattinson, who was in New York at the time.

“We placed the script inside a secret pouch that had a lock on it with a code,” he said, underscoring the high-security measures surrounding the project.
The Batman 2 Production and Cast
Reeves confirmed that filming for The Batman 2 will begin next year, “probably around the end of April or beginning of May.”
Alongside Robert Pattinson returning as Bruce Wayne, the sequel’s cast includes:
