The beloved cast of “Mean Girls” recently graced our screens once again, reuniting for a special Walmart commercial. While the trio of Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert, who played integral roles in the 2004 teen comedy, came together for the project, the absence of Rachel McAdams, who portrayed the iconic Regina George, was notable.
An insider familiar with the situation revealed to Page Six that Rachel McAdams chose not to partake in the commercial. Although offers were extended to all the main cast members, only three of them decided to participate.
Despite the absence of one of its leading ladies, the reunion was a heartwarming and nostalgic moment for fans of the “Mean Girls” cult classic. The source added, “It was definitely a loss not having Rachel there, but they had a great time discussing their experiences as moms.”
The TV commercial, released nine years after the film’s initial debut, was brimming with references and zingers that fans hold dear. Lindsay Lohan’s voiceover humorously quipped, “On Wednesdays we wear pink, but now we shop Walmart Black Friday deals.”
The commercial also paid homage to some of the most iconic moments from the film, recreating the Christmas performance of “Jingle Bell Rock” and playfully showcasing Amanda Seyfried as Karen Smith, delivering her signature clueless weather reporter lines.
The “Mean Girls” cast’s reunion, even without the complete ensemble, was a delightful trip down memory lane for fans. It served as a testament to the enduring popularity of this beloved teen comedy, reminding us of the timelessness of its humor and characters.
