Meghan Markle’s latest culinary creation has stirred up more confusion than cheer. The Duchess of Sussex shared a cozy winter recipe on Instagram from her lifestyle brand As Ever, but fans couldn’t help mocking what they dubbed “mulled water.”
In a new video, Meghan demonstrated how to prepare what she described as a “really soothing warm beverage” using her $16 Spiced Cider Mulling Spice Kit. She boiled a pot of water, steeped the spices, and ladled the drink into mugs before adding lemon slices, cinnamon sticks, and a spoonful of her $28 honey.
For those wanting an extra kick, the Duchess suggested adding a splash of alcohol — though she insisted it’s just as comforting without it.
However, fans were quick to call her out for reinventing what they believe is just spiced water. “Wouldn’t you add the spices to apple cider or wine? Not WATER?” one X user commented. Another joked, “She basically made a simmer pot and called it a drink.”
Social media users also poked fun at Meghan’s approach to cooking, with one writing, “Looks like she was making spicy tea because she has no idea what she’s doing.”
The recipe is part of Meghan’s newly launched holiday entertaining collection, which includes spiced kits for hot toddies and mulled cider. The Duchess described them as “perfect for après-ski evenings, cozy movie nights, or festive gatherings.”
Despite the backlash, Meghan remains committed to promoting her culinary and lifestyle ventures. Still, this isn’t the first time her kitchen experiments have raised eyebrows — earlier this year, fans mocked her for using unusual pasta-making methods and holding jam-making tools upside down in a photoshoot.
While opinions remain divided, one thing is clear: Meghan’s latest “mulled water” moment has everyone talking.
