Meghan Markle is making bold moves in the business world as she ramps up efforts to grow her lifestyle brand, As Ever. Following the success of her podcast Confessions of a Female Founder and her Netflix series — now renewed for two more seasons — the Duchess of Sussex is preparing to step into the hospitality space.
According to a report by The Sun, Meghan has filed to trademark As Ever for “hospitality services”, signaling a possible launch of branded hotels, restaurants, or wellness retreats in the future. This marks her most ambitious business venture since stepping away from royal duties in 2020.

Royal Titles Stir Controversy Amid Business Expansion
Despite leaving her role as a senior working royal, Meghan continues to use her duchess title in public and business-facing endeavors — a move that has stirred debate among royal watchers and insiders.
Former royal butler Grant Harrold spoke to Showbiz Cheat Sheet about the potential consequences of Meghan’s branding choices. He noted that King Charles may step in if her title is seen as being used for commercial gain.

“It’s possible that they could step in,” Harrold explained. “But it wouldn’t be King Charles phoning up personally — it would likely go through Harry.”
A High-Stakes Business Move?
Harrold also pointed out the financial and operational risks associated with Meghan’s rumored hospitality expansion. “From a hospitality point of view, that’s going to cost a lot of money — and then she has to run it,” he said. “If it’s a failure, that’s going to be a very expensive failure.”
He questioned the logic behind such a venture, stating, “Why would you want the hassle of having a hotel? I can understand a retreat or wellness space because she’s into that, but a full-fledged hotel doesn’t really align with her brand.”
What’s Next for ‘As Ever’?
With Meghan Markle building As Ever into a multifaceted brand that already includes a media presence and wellness-focused offerings, the hospitality industry may seem like the next natural step — especially for someone who has positioned herself as a global lifestyle influencer.
While it’s still unclear what form her expansion will take, the move signals her intent to build an empire far beyond royal expectations — one that may once again test her relationship with the British monarchy.
