Miley Cyrus took fans on a humorous journey back to her Hannah Montana days while appearing on the Sorry We’re Cyrus podcast alongside her mom, Tish Cyrus, and sister, Brandi Cyrus. The June 19 episode brought laughter and heartfelt moments as the 32-year-old singer opened up about one of her most unforgettable behind-the-scenes memories from the Disney Channel hit.
“Dad Smoking Pot and Everyone Blaming Me”
When asked to share a standout memory from Hannah Montana, Miley didn’t hesitate: “Dad smoking pot and everyone blaming me for it.” The candid comment made Tish burst into laughter, while Brandi, 38, chimed in, “I do remember that.”
Although the moment was all in good humor, Tish recalled how she originally dismissed the idea that Billy Ray Cyrus was involved. “I was saying, ‘Absolutely not, he would never do that,’” she said, adding that she actually suspected Miley’s co-star Mitchel Musso at the time.
Reflecting on Family Bonds and Past Challenges
Miley’s time on Hannah Montana may be behind her, but her openness about her family relationships has only deepened in recent years. In a recent appearance on the Reclaiming podcast with Monica Lewinsky on June 10, Miley addressed some of the personal challenges the Cyrus family has faced.
“My family and I have had a really difficult… What did you call your decade? Dark decade. Yeah, we had one of those,” Miley told Lewinsky. She admitted that at one point, several family members weren’t even speaking to each other.

Fortunately, she said things have changed significantly in the past year. “That was a really important part of my year this year, was all of my family putting those lines of communication back together,” she explained. “A lot because of, you know, I had a lot of loyalty to my mom, the way that families do when parents get divorced.”
Miley Balances Humor with Healing
The Sorry We’re Cyrus podcast gave fans a rare glimpse into the playful, unfiltered side of the Cyrus family, while also highlighting the emotional growth they’ve experienced over time. From Hannah Montana flashbacks to deep family healing, Miley’s willingness to share the good and the difficult has made her all the more relatable to longtime fans.
