Miley Cyrus recently opened up about a surprising health scare that landed her briefly in the ICU, just weeks after filming her latest music video on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Grammy-winning singer shared the story during a candid interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, revealing that what started as a glamorous shoot quickly took a dangerous turn.
“I filmed this video in October, and by November at Thanksgiving, I was put in the ICU for a moment,” Cyrus explained. She described how the busy emergency room made her brief stay feel even more intense, noting, “There was a lot of people in the ER, people choking on turkey legs or whatever.” The real concern, however, was a severe infection developing near her kneecap. “My leg began to disintegrate within some way around the kneecap area,” she shared.
The singer’s new single, Walk of Fame, inspired the video filmed right on the famous Hollywood sidewalk, where Cyrus was seen rolling around — a scene she believes may have contributed to her infection. Recalling her hospital visit, she said, “The doctor goes, ‘Do you have any idea why you would have such a brutal infection on your kneecap?’ And I just saw myself rolling around the Walk of Fame.”
Miley also recalled the doctor’s blunt reaction: “Just to have a surgeon look at you and say ‘yuck’—they open up cadavers, they see inside the guts of humans, and they’re looking at me, telling me I’m disgusting.”
The Walk of Fame music video supports her ninth studio album of the same name, which fans are eagerly awaiting. In addition to her music, Miley Cyrus is also set to premiere her upcoming film, Something Beautiful, this June at the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival.
This unexpected health challenge underscores the risks artists sometimes face behind the scenes, even while creating glamorous projects. Miley’s openness about her ICU stay adds a personal and relatable dimension to her creative journey.
