Miley Cyrus has recently shared a side-splitting anecdote about an unexpected culinary adventure involving her grandmother and Snoop Dogg, all in the name of a 2015 VMAs skit.
In a clip from her new TikTok series inspired by her latest single, “Used to Be Young,” Cyrus takes her audience behind the scenes of a memorable moment from the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).
The 30-year-old artist, who hosted the VMAs that year, explained the genesis of the skit, saying, “This is when I was hosting the VMAs, and this was one of the scenes I had written because I knew I really wanted a couple of things in the show.”
Cyrus’s wish list for the performance included elements like the Flaming Lips, drag queens, and even her grandmother.
To bring her vision to life, she needed the perfect connection, and that’s where Snoop Dogg came in.
In the sketch that unfolded, Cyrus found herself partaking in a special batch of weed-infused brownies lovingly prepared by her unsuspecting grandmother.
Describing the skit, Cyrus humorously shared, “It’s my grandma doing what grandmas do — baking cookies — but what she doesn’t know is that they were actual edibles. RIP, she’ll never know.”
Adding to the hilarity, Cyrus’s mother, Tish, joined in with her perspective on the day she chauffeured Cyrus’s grandmother to the set.
Tish recounted the amusing moment when her mother questioned the apron she was given on the way to the set, exclaiming, “Why does this say — my name’s not Mary Jane!’ I was like, ‘I don’t know, Mom’.”
Miley Cyrus’s candid and comical storytelling provides a glimpse into the entertaining and unexpected moments that can unfold behind the scenes of major award shows. This charming tale adds yet another layer to Cyrus’s already vibrant and adventurous public persona.
