And in order to make that believable, you have to convey suffering and pain,” he explained.
Addressing the core theme of “Damsel,” the director highlighted the narrative’s focus on transformation, as he expressed the need for the audience to deeply feel the intensity of the character’s journey from girl to woman. “This is a movie about a transformation – about a girl becoming a woman – and you need to really feel the intensity of it,” he added.
Juan Carlos Fresnadillo emphasized the team’s commitment to authenticity and pushing the limits to create a compelling and immersive experience for the audience. “We didn’t want to cheat any of that, and that’s why we pushed all the limits to make this a huge roller coaster of an experience for the audience,” he concluded.
