Pedro Pascal, star of The Last of Us and Gladiator II, recently opened up about his dating life and personal privacy in an exclusive interview with Vanity Fair. Known for his candidness on screen, the 50-year-old actor shared why he prefers to keep his romantic relationships out of the public eye.
Contrary to media labeling him as a “highly private person,” Pascal says he feels the description doesn’t quite fit him. “I always feel perplexed when I’m identified in whatever form of media as a ‘highly private person,’ because that’s the opposite of me,” he explained. “I’m actually very unprivate in my personal life.”

However, Pascal acknowledged that relationships are complex, especially when they’re subjected to intense public scrutiny. “I just know that personal relationships are such a complex thing to navigate even without having this enormous lens on them,” he said, highlighting the added pressure that fame can bring.
Pedro’s Dreams About Family and Parenthood
While Pascal has not publicly discussed having children, he revealed a touching hope for the future. He spoke about wanting to share simple joys, like taking his own kids to the movies — just as his parents did with him. “I guess I want a shortcut to an interesting human being who is my child who will go see something that I want to see,” he said.
Reflecting on Fan Perceptions and Self-Image
Last year, at the 2024 Critics’ Choice Awards, Pedro Pascal was seen in a sling as he recovered from an injury. Host Chelsea Handler humorously noted that 2023 had been “the year everyone became horny for Pedro.” Despite the public adoration, Pascal shared he didn’t feel quite the same.
“I was in a sling, I was overweight, and when the camera cut to me, I didn’t think anything could be further from the truth,” he admitted, revealing a more vulnerable side behind the confident public persona.
